What I Did On My Summer Vacation

25 Jun

Hello, my friends! I’ve missed you! But not too much, because I was in MEXICO!

How was our trip? Hit or miss, to be honest. But at the end of the day A and I were able to laugh about it and make the best of all the curveballs we were thrown, and thoroughly enjoy celebrating our six-year anniversary. We came back rested, reconnected, and tanned. Here are some of the highlights:

pirate ship!

a is a fish in the water

and he snorkeled with a pirate ship

i learned to paddleboard! i spent most of my time on my knees, but…

i did get up! a snapped a shot right before i took a nosedive and got a salt water sinus rinse. but I kept on trying and got a great workout!

Hello lovelies! I’ve missed you all so much!

Things have been crazy around here at casa de BiRL, so this is going to be a drive-by posting. It’s my first year being in charge of a lot of stuff, and I’ve had rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and then performances coming out of my ears for that last two months. One more week to go (at 12 hours a day) and I’m done! Whew! Little did we know we’d more from A’s accountant busy season to my end of the school year busy season. Well, we know for next year!

So what’s new….let’s see….

As of last night my baby sister is engaged to be married. Yay!

I’m exploring exercising at odd times due to a crazy work schedule. Yay!

I’ve had one heck of a time replacing my old workout shoes and the sports bra that broke on me last week, and they STILL haven’t some in. Boo.

My dogs won’t stop digging in the garden I’m trying to build. On the plus side, it helps with the weeding. Yay! On the downside they track mud into the house. Boo.

I have two updates for the 30 Before 30 List that I’m almost done with, and I can’t wait to share them with you. Yay!

One week from today A and I will have been married for six whole years. YAY!!!

That’s all for now! Sorry for the brief post, but I’ll be able to write more as soon as my brain comes down from four hours’ sleep per night.

The Best Feelings…

25 Apr

Have you ever thought about the things that feel the best? I’m not talking emotional, I’m talking tactile. The feelings that make you shiver, the feelings that make you sigh, the feelings that make all your muscles relax. I’ve always felt like these feelings are few and far between, but the more I think about it, the more I realize these are everyday pleasures if we just take the time to seek them out and enjoy them. So I thought I’d throw together a little list of the best everyday feelings in the world. Feel free to add your own, and let’s feel a little of the best today.

Waking up naturally on a Saturday morning, remembering you have nothing to do that day, and rolling over to read a book for an hour.

Dancing in the livingroom until you collapse.

Getting butterfly kisses from a child that calls you “Aunt.”

Sliding in between cool, crisp, freshly washed sheets. (Bonus points if you just shaved your legs.)

Getting your hair brushed by someone who loves you.

Finishing a workout where you really pushed yourself and ending with a reeeeeeally good stretch.

Taking a hot shower after said workout and stretch.

Giving an unexpected compliment and seeing the person smile.

Puppy kisses on the nose.

Getting sun-drunk lying on a blanket in the grass on the first sunny day of spring.

That moment when you finish singing, hold your breath, and the audience does, too, before erupting in applause.

Hearing your pulse pound in your ears and feeling your breath whoosh in and out in time with your sneakers on the pavement.

Laughing until your sides hurt and you can’t catch your breath.

Starting and ending my day in the arms of the man who loves me.

What would you add to the list?
